Catherine Suen tells the story of her life through her doll creatures.
Dressed like queens, empresses, carnival creatures, Greek nymphs, wearing big hats to accentuate their slender figures, these one of a kind creations are made with found objects, junk and all sorts of stuff Catherine finds wherever she lives. They glisten in their attires that look like haute couture and they reflect a fantasy world that comes from Catherine’s many travels around the world.
Catherine currently resides in Aegina island where she meticulously crafts her poetic princesses.
Beetween the folds of the clothes and the volutes of the hairstyles of her "Creatures", the soul of the artist hides itself, then appears, while seeking to embellish the world, no doubt to better escape it. To create allows her to stand on her feet and breathe. An imaginary world where all the creatures are celestial, travellers and bohemians.
